BRAKE - An Invaluable Resource On Road Safety

To fully inform as many people as possible about the latest road safety research in the hope that the information will help make a difference

IF anyone is interested in researching road safety, the BRAKE web site is an invaluable resource.

The site at is jam packed with information including a long list of research papers on everything from Australian crash statistics to driver behaviour, driver training and road safety, teen driver risks and novice driver safety research.

The site is updated weekly with research papers from around the world with a link to where they came from.

The idea is to fully inform as many people as possible about the latest road safety research in the hope that the information will help make a difference.

BRAKE founder Rob Duncan said people were encouraged to download the information and to use it wherever they wanted.

“The whole point of what we are doing is to make people aware of the research that is out there about road safety,” he said.

“But we don’t seem to be taking it on board, people seem to keep going back to the same old research that has been shown not to work.”

Schools in particular are encouraged to freely use the information for assignments, with the aim to teach our teenagers about how to survive on our roads.
